TRIMUI Brick Pro
We’ve been waiting a long time for it, but the TRIMUI Brick Pro it’s finally here. This Linux handheld is the bigger brother of the popular TRIMUI Brick: a compact retro handheld with a premium look and feel, a strikingly sharp screen and now featuring two analogue sticks.
The original Brick was loved for its neat design, compact size and, above all, that stunning 1024 x 768 screen. For us, it was one of the best handhelds of 2025, and it remains popular in 2026 too. The Brick Pro builds on this with a larger 3.95-inch display, dual Hall-effect sticks and the same user-friendly Linux base that many retro gamers quickly feel at home with.
Key features
Larger 3.95-inch IPS screen
The screen is once again one of its strongest points. With a resolution of 1024 x 768, a 4:3 aspect ratio and a high pixel density, classic consoles look crisp and clean. 8-bit, 16-bit, arcade, Game Boy Advance and PlayStation 1 games in particular look their best here.
Dual Hall-effect sticks
Whilst the standard Brick was primarily designed for D-pad gaming, the Brick Pro features two analogue sticks. This makes it more practical for PS1 games with analogue controls, certain N64 titles and ports that require greater control.
Linux handheld with a familiar interface
The Brick Pro runs on Linux. This keeps the user experience streamlined and fast, without the heavier Android layer found on some more expensive handhelds. For classic emulation, that’s actually a great combination.
Compact, but more comfortable than the original Brick
With its larger screen and extra sticks, the Brick Pro is less minimalist than its little brother, but it’s still clearly a compact vertical handheld. Ideal for anyone looking for something that remains easy to handle, but offers just that little bit more room to play.
Ideal for classic retro systems
This is a really great handheld for the NES, SNES, Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, arcade and PlayStation 1. The N64, Dreamcast and PSP may work with lighter titles and with the right settings, but don’t expect full support for all games on those systems.
Why this model is special
The TRIMUI Brick Pro occupies an interesting niche in the market. It feels like a logical next step for anyone who liked the standard Brick but wanted a bigger screen and analogue sticks. The 4:3 screen in particular makes it appealing for retro gaming, as it displays many classic systems more naturally than on widescreen 16:9 handhelds.
That said, it’s best to keep your expectations realistic. The Brick Pro is neither a high-end Android handheld nor a device designed for demanding PS2, GameCube or extensive PSP emulation. The chipset is designed for classic retro gaming, with a bit of extra capacity for selected more demanding systems. So think of it primarily as a high-end, compact Linux handheld for retro games, not as an all-rounder for modern emulation.

Frequently asked questions
Is the TRIMUI Brick Pro more powerful than the standard TRIMUI Brick?
Not in every respect. The biggest upgrades are mainly the larger screen and the two analogue sticks. The Allwinner A133P chip used is very similar to what we’re familiar with from the standard Brick and the TRIMUI Smart Pro. So expect, above all, a more feature-rich Brick, rather than a significantly more powerful handheld.
Can you TRIMUI Brick Pro play N64, Dreamcast and PSP games?
Yes, but with some caveats. Lighter games and well-supported titles may be playable, especially with the right settings. More demanding N64, Dreamcast and PSP games will perform inconsistently. For full PSP or Dreamcast emulation, a more powerful Android handheld is a better choice.
What is the difference between the Brick Pro and the Brick Hammer Pro U?
The Brick Pro is the Linux version, featuring an Allwinner A133P chip, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. The Brick Hammer Pro U is a different, more powerful model running Android, with a Snapdragon chip and more memory. Although they are similar in name and design, they are aimed at different users.
Is the screen suitable for retro games?
Yes, that’s exactly why this screen is so appealing. The 4:3 aspect ratio works well with many classic consoles, and the 1024 x 768 resolution ensures a sharp picture on this screen size.
Are the analogue sticks useful, or do they make it less compact?
That depends on how you use it. The joysticks make the Brick Pro much more versatile, especially for PS1 and certain 3D games. At the same time, joysticks always stick out a bit more than just a D-pad and buttons, so it’s not quite as compact as the standard Brick.
What are the buttons and D-pad like?
Opinions on this vary when it comes to TRIMUI handhelds. Many users appreciate the compact design and the screen, but some players find the buttons a bit clicky or less smooth than on, for example, Miyoo. If you’re very particular about the feel of the D-pad, that’s something to bear in mind.
Does the TRIMUI Brick Pro on Android?
No, the Brick Pro runs on Linux. The Android version that’s often mentioned online is the Brick Hammer Pro U.
