Key features

Just like on a Nintendo 3DS, the AMOLED panel on top is larger than the one on the bottom: 6 ves versus 3.92 inches. This really allows 3DS games to shine. Nintendo DS games also have more than enough space to showcase their gameplay; you won’t be missing out on anything here. With the high screen resolutions (1920 by 1080 pixels and 1080 by 1240 pixels respectively), you can upscaling your games perfectly, without any loss of quality or enjoyment. What’s more, the aspect ratio of the top screen is on a par with handhelds that have just one display, so you can effortlessly enjoy both retro and modern titles on it. And the great thing is: if you’re not playing DS or 3DS games on it, you can display a settings menu, a website with information or a video at the bottom, so you can do two things at once.

In principle, you can emulate games on all models up to and including the sixth generation of games consoles (i.e. Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2, including the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita). On the Lite, however, you’re more likely to encounter limitations than on the other models; this is down to heat build-up, the maximum resolution setting and the frame rate. For the best possible experience, you should therefore opt for at least the Base model. But if you’re not too demanding, the Lite will do just fine; a slightly lower resolution is no problem at all. If you want the ultimate experience, it’s best to go for the Max.

All models also feature active cooling (which prevents the system from overheating quickly), Hall-effect joysticks (for a sustainable future free from stick drift) and a battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh, which lasts for hours. You’ll also find all sorts of modern conveniences here, such as USB 3.1 Type-C, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, ms well as classic features such as the much-loved headphone jack and a Micro SD card slot.
