Until now, we saw this mainly in very premium handhelds such as the Ayn Odin 2 Portal or Ayn Thor, but Retroid now brings this brute power to a wider audience. Why the Retroid Pocket 6 is special

What immediately sets the Retroid Pocket 6 apart is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. All kinds of mature drivers now exist for this chipset, such as the well-known Turnip drivers. That means you can even run Nintendo Switch emulation on this handheld. Emulating modern systems on a handheld of this size just remains really cool, even if the device is actually pure overkill for many classic systems.

Of course, you will also play all the classics on this without a problem, but the extra power makes this handheld future-proof and interesting for heavier systems such as PlayStation 3 and even PC emulation.

The screen is an absolute eye-catcher. A super nice AMOLED panel with 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. This opens the door to all kinds of cool graphics tweaks like frame insertion, CRT filters and other shaders, making your games look even better.

The Pro version features 8 GB RAM, which is more than enough for most scenarios. Still, at RetroGear we recommend opting for the Max version with 12 GB RAM. What makes the Pocket 6 verder unique is the choice in stick and D-pad layout. You can choose a top-left D-pad or a top-left stick. Personally, I go for the top-left D-pad because I play a lot of platformers, but if you're more of a PlayStation- or stick-centred gamer, the top-left stick is probably a better choice.
